National Recovery Month

Save the Date for National Recovery Month

Each September, those in recovery and the professionals who support them, come together for National Recovery Month.  The month is designated to honor the path from addiction to recovery so many have taken.  And the month is also a way to affirm that, with the right supports, anyone can overcome addiction.

We hope you’ll join us this September as we partner in the community to bring awareness and tell the story of what we do.

Be sure to follow us on social media and check out our events page to follow all events as they are scheduled.  We are proud of the partnerships we have forged and know that, as a community, we can overcome the stigma associated with recovery.  Everyone deserves a second chance.

Stay Connected via social media.

The class is offered for free to registered participants and helps families offer their babies the healthiest start in life.

Latched offers a multitude of services designed to support you from before your baby is born to the day you decide to wean.

During the class, Latched discusses the how’s, when’s and what’s for nursing your baby.

Sam Ash San Antonio donates instruments for music therapy

We’re ready to start music therapy! Thanks to Sam Ash Music Stores for donating music makers to Alpha Home to help our clients heal and grow!

Most recently, Alpha Home received a scholarship to attend a Drum Circle Facilitator’s Training Playshop, where Alpha Home staff gained techniques and concepts to facilitate a drum circle with our clients.

The goal of the music therapy is to help clients release pent-up emotions, increase motivation, enhance self-awareness, improve cognition and memory retention, promote social interaction and decrease anxiety and depression.

Thank you, Sam Ash San Antonio for your generous donation! We’re ready to start making music!

Alpha Home celebrates birthday with family-friendly celebration

A free family-friendly celebration at the Ruble Center was held over the weekend to celebrate Alpha Home’s 52nd Birthday.

The event was attended by over 150 supporters of Alpha Home and included free food, a moon bounce, paletas and games. Tom Kinsey from Learn Nature, an ecology educator, also took part in the celebration.

Alpha Home would like to thank H-E-B for providing the food and its amazing volunteers who helped make it a success.  It was a great time! ¡Viva Alpha Home!

National RX Drug Abuse Summit recap from Atlanta

This week, our CEO, Angela White, attended the National Rx Drug Abuse Summit in Atlanta, along with our community partner San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and got to listen to some amazing speakers like John Eadie from the Public Health and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Project; former U.S. President, Bill Clinton; and the U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome M. Adams.

Adams outlined the fight for treatment and prevention while sharing his personal connection to the opioid crisis.

Alpha Home was proud to be part of the summit, which is the largest conference in the nation addressing the opioid crisis.
